We had the pleasure of decorating two shops last weekend to complement the Chelsea Flower Show.  For the first, Beulah in Ebury Street on the Grosvenor Estate, we were sponsored by Meijer roses who I had the pleasure of visiting in Holland earlier this year.  The soft colour palette is always lovely to work with and as Belgravia's theme was the Queen's 90th Birthday party, we took our inspiration from the Queen's Garden Parties at Buckingham Palace and her love of her rose garden.  Our rose design snaked from outside the front of the shop and in through the window, and was inspired by the joy of bringing flowers from the outside and enjoying them at home #Belgraviainbloom. For our second display I arranged two towers of English grown scented flowers for Potterton Books at 91 Lower Sloane Street. Pottertons's have stocked my flower books since the beginning and over the years I have become a friend of Clare Jameson, the owner, who is hugely knowledgeable about books.  I did a couple of book signing events and it was lovely to meet new floral friends and catch up with some old ones.  On Thursday night, I had the pleasure of signing books with the fabulous garden designer Luciano Giubbilei.  Luciano and I have been friends for a while. We used to meet in the very early mornings in the flower market when he was arranging flowers for Giorgio Locatelli.  He has gone on to create the most wonderful gardens and his new book "The Art of Making Gardens" is truly beautiful.  #chelseainbloom. Of course, I also had the great pleasure of visiting the Chelsea Flower Show and thought it was a very strong show this year.  I was delighted that one of the people who inspired me to pursue a career in floristry, Ming Veevers Carter, was applauded for her wonderful installation of the Queens head.  Ming created the design for New Covent Garden Flowers Market.  In previous years I have always been disappointed that the flower market was not really represented at Chelsea and so it was fantastic that this installation had such good press and won a gold medal.  Well done to Ming and her team and all the clever growers and wholesalers at NCGM.  Visit Ming Veevers Carter website
